MÍŠA Account

By way of a unique public fundraiser, the project MÍŠA Account raised 100 million crowns for the purchase of a Leksell gamma knife, which was installed at the Na Homolce hospital in October 1992, where a state-of-the-art stereotactical neurosurgery center has since arisen that is peerless in Central and Eastern Europe and that achieves top results when compared to international standards. 
Na Homolce hospital was using the knife for 17 years, 10 525 patients underwent surgery here. The Leksell gamma knife is property of the foundation and was used by the Na Homolce hospital under a lending agreement (whereas the usage fee flows back to the MÍŠA Account).
The MÍŠA Account has begun a cooperation with the A. P. Romadanov Academy Institute of Neurosurgery at the Ukrainian Academy of Medical Sciences. Through the MÍŠA Account and courtesy of the Na Homolce hospital, the Foundation Charter 77 offers specialist medical care (involving the application of the Leksell gamma knife) to children from Ukraine whose social situation denies them access to this potentially life-saving method. We closely cooperate with Czech Airlines in securing the transfer flights for these Ukrainian patients and their caregivers.
