New Start

A New Start is designed to help people who suffered an irreversible change of their medical situation due to an accident or otherwise at some point during the past 12 to 18 months.
The project's title is symbolic and is meant to be understood such that we "jump-start" the affected individual on their way back to a fully integrated life. Aside from other problems, accidents and injuries also always represent a huge financial burden – apartments and cars have to be retrofitted to become handicapped-friendly, and a wheelchair and other indispensable aids must be purchased. A computer and other communication technology become a necessity without which the chances to earn a livelihood drop steeply.
For this reason, the BARRIERS Account wants to provide such applicants with a more sizable financial donation to cover these enormous expenses. The maximum amount for answering the needs of the individual applicant has been capped at CZK 100'000. In replenishing the coffers of A New Start, the BARRIERS Account draws upon the proceeds from the auction sale of artwork collection donated by ČEZ. Artifacts for three auction events were put together from three hundred donated pieces of art. The two events that already took place provided A New Start with almost CZK 7.5 million.
