Vojtíšek
Vojtíšek was born to us as the younger brother to two girls, and we were overjoyed with anticipation. Immediately after he was born, he was transferred to a children's hospital where he had to undergo surgery for multiple intestinal obstruction. There were subsequent complications, and so we could cradle Vojtíšek in our arms only after two months, and it took another month before he was finally released into our domestic care. At the time, we thought that the period of uncertainty was finally over, but the real worries should only begin.
From the first day at home, we begun to regularly visit rehab facilities and attend various examinations. Over time, a number of various other abnormalities were found. We are regulars at pediatric treatment facilities, where we keep trying and fighting, alongside the professional staff, for at least a little developmental progress.
His sisters dote on little Vojtíšek, but he is not really able to play with them a lot, and never speaks to them. He loves to take a swim in warm water, he "plays" the piano, and he enjoys flinging around objects.
Today, Vojtíšek is two and a half. He is as of yet unable to sit upright by himself; the standard pram has become too short for him. Our rehab stroller has a larger lying surface, ensures that Vojtíšek assumes the right sedentary position, and will last for a number of years. We had the opportunity to test a baby walker for a few days, and we put great hope in this aid: not only does it facilitate verticalization and improve the blood flow to the lower extremities, but it also allows for mental progress by opening new vistas and opportunities for our child.
Both aids are partly covered by health insurance; we try to come up with the rest ourselves, with the help of the foundation and you – the kind donors. Thank you for every little donation.
